The ticket depends on the machine’s rated capacity, what is fitted to the boom, and the state.
• Non-slewing telehandler over 3 tonnes with a jib or hook lifting a suspended load: high risk work licence class CN (non-slewing mobile crane) in QLD, NSW and WA.
• Victoria: any non-slewing telehandler over 3 tonnes needs a high risk work licence (TV or CN), whatever the attachment.
• Slewing telehandler used as a crane: slewing mobile crane licence (C2, C6, C1 or C0) to suit the rated capacity.
• Work platform on a boom of 11 metres or more: WP licence as well.
• Everything else (3 tonnes or under, or forks and bucket outside Victoria): no high risk work licence, but the operator must be trained and competent on that machine and attachment — for example a TSHA Gold Card or a Statement of Attainment in RIIHAN309F. The Gold Card is industry training, not a licence.
• White Card: mandatory for anyone doing construction work.
At DL Aus Group, we specialise in providing skilled and certified telehandler operators to meet the diverse needs of construction sites, industrial locations, and other job sites. Since its introduction in 1977, the telehandler, also known as a telescopic handler, has become an essential piece of equipment for moving heavy materials, assembling and disassembling structures, and performing a wide range of tasks on various projects.
Our telehandler operators are highly trained and experienced in the safe and efficient operation of these versatile machines. They play a crucial role in handling materials and equipment on-site, ensuring that tasks are completed with precision and in accordance with safety standards. Whether it’s transporting heavy loads, positioning materials at height, or performing complex manoeuvrs, our operators have the expertise to execute these tasks effectively.
Safe and Efficient Operation: Operating the telehandler to lift, move, and place materials in a controlled and safe manner, ensuring the smooth progress of the project.
• Load Handling: Managing various types of loads, including heavy and oversized materials, with care and precision to prevent accidents and damage.
• Collaboration with On-Site Teams: Working closely with other teams on-site to coordinate movements and ensure operational efficiency.
• Routine Equipment Checks: Conducting regular inspections and basic maintenance of the telehandler to ensure it remains in optimal working condition and complies with safety regulations.
At DL Aus Group, we supply telehandler operators with the ticket that matches the machine and the job. Where a telehandler over 3 tonnes is rigged with a jib and hook to lift a suspended load, we send an operator holding a current non-slewing crane licence (CN). In Victoria, any non-slewing telehandler over 3 tonnes needs a TV or CN licence, whatever the attachment. Where the boom is 11 metres or more and used as a work platform, we check the WP licence as well. Every operator holds a current White Card, and we sight the tickets against the machine before the shift, not after.
